Can the Standard Mod & DC Mod be performed together? Yes both Mods can be performed at the same or separate from one another. 95% of all customers have both Mods performed.
How does the 'DC Mod' work with the footswitch? Yes, the footswitch still operates the same way. IE: when you step on footswitch to select Ch-1 you can dial in a clean tone & when you step on Ch-2 it will give you a distorted rhythm tone. You can use the new control pots to adjust the gain & volume levels to what sounds best to your ear
I am very interested in the DC-Mod, what does a concentric pot look like? The following is a picture of a concentric pot.
What is the best way to set up the Green & Blue Channels after the DC-Mod? Much the same as any clean channel that has a 'Level' or 'Master Volume' - Set the Green Channel's 'Level' control full up & slowly increase the 'Gain' control to the desired volume. This will give you the best clean tone. If you want to smooth out the tone you can lower the 'Level' control slightly. Now you can move onto setting up the the Blue Channel - Turn the 'Gain' control full up & slowly raise up the 'Level' control to match the volume on the Green channel (footswitch back & forth to match the volumes).
I The knobs on my EVH 5150 III are cracked, can you replace them with knobs that will not crack? Yes, the reason the stock knobs crack is due to the lack of a brass insert. The white pointer / chicken head knobs we use does contain a brass insert, which prevents the same problem from reoccurring. Photo to the left is an example of the knobs we stock. Pricing is currently $2.95 each installed.
Can you install a 2nd Resonance control on the rear panel? No, unfortunately there is not enough physical room to do so on the 'Mini' 50 watt and Combo version.
Can you Retube my amp while it's there? Yes, we will hand select the tubes that sound & feel best in your amp & can provide you with an estimate in advance if you so desire.
Does my amp need to have a CapJob? No, these units are not old enough yet & therefore do not need a CapJob.
Can you Mod the 'Reverb' button on the footswtich to turn the FX-Loop on & off? No, due to the way the switching system is designed this is not a request we can accommodate.
Can I purchase this as a Mod Kit so I can have my local tech install it? We do not sell Mod Kits. Important - We do not offer technical support.
Jan 15th, 2015 - We have been asked to offer what we now call our 'DC-Mod' for the better part of 3 years. This Mod is not as simple as it may seem. It requires a high level of experience & advanced knowledge on the inner workings of tube amplifiers, switching systems design / Modification as well as the working on lesser quality printed circuit boards. Without the a fore mentioned experience you will likely cause damage to your circuit board & amplifier.. Installing just the concentric pots yourself without making hte necessary alterations to the circuitry will result in a noticeable loss of low end - Trace Davis, President / Founder
