Customer Feedback "I've had this 900 forever and it was never my go to amp. It lacked gain and it never really had much bottom end to it. Shipped it to Voodoo and figured I would give their Metal-Mod a try. I still can't believe how much better the amp sounds! It has a lot of thumping bass to it now and way more gain. They removed the Reverb controls and put in the Global and Saturate knobs. The Saturate does exactly that - it saturates the gain a great deal or I can back it off. I don't know how you did it, but you turned my mediocre JCM900 into a marvelous metal machine!! My jaw dropped and I couldn't stop playing once I got it. I've played many amps and this one is leaps and bounds my favorite amp ever. The TONE is perfect and everything I've ever wanted in an amp. This thing even sounds better than my cousin's Mesa Triple Rectifier!
Sound quality is amazing. There is a unbelievable amount of bass. Chugs sound so fat and thick you can cut it with a knife. The EQ section, you can actually hear a big difference when you turn the knobs. The highs can cut through the mix like butter, the mids sound even more amazing with the global knob too, and the bass is INCREDIBLE. So easy to get a metal chug out of this amp. In the unmodded JCM900, the EQ seemed to be lacking. You can turn those knobs all you want, it seemed like there was only 1 default setting whether you turned the mids/treble/bass up to 10 or 1. The mids were too screechy, the highs were too piercing and the bass was barely there)
Volume is another thing that amazes me about this amp mod. Pre-mod, I had to crank it to at least 7 or 8 to be heard. Now post-mod, I only need to be up to 3-4 and it is balls to the wall loud! And the best thing about it is that even at volume 1, this sounds like it's cranked!! (in the unmodded JCM 900, low volume was not an option. The thing sounded like crap anywhere under 5. Customer Feedback "How would I describe it? Crushing brutality taken to the 10th degree and that still doesn't come close to how cool this sounds. You were so right about how easy this plays and it is very additive. I could play this all day and never get tired of it. I've written several new riffs already and I can't say enough good things. The bass is very responsive and deep but not stiff. The mids are the classic Marshall mids but have a sweet saturated feel and the highs cut through perfectly. I took the chance and got the Platinum Mod and it's everything I hoped it would be. Still can't believe this is a JCM900 (Lol). Customer Feedback "When I first got this amp, it absolutely sucked. Marshalls with 5881/6l6 tubes sound like garbage imho. I almost wanted to sell it, but I heard about voodoo for many years. So I decided to give them a shot. This thing is awesome now! Absolutely amazing! I have a 5150 block head, ampeg vl, and have owned a TSL100 marshall, xxx, jsx, etc. This is by far my favorite amp. I went with the Standard Mod, which totally cleaned up the amp (much quieter) the clean channel can actually be clean, and the gain channel has so much gain and balls. I also went with the el34 mod for my amp since it came with the 5881 power tubes. Much better! Nice bottom end. I dont even know how to explain how good this thing sounds!! My amp is constantly being moved to and from practice, shows, studios, etc. This thing can seriously handle every ounce of beating I have given it. I have never had any trouble with it, the mods have held tight, and all I can say is I am 100% satisfied with the outcome of my amp.
The people at Voodoo are extremely helpful and very knowledgeable when it comes to amps. Ive called and spoke with numerous people about different heads I have wanted to have modded and they always help me as much as they can. Also, when I sent my amp in, there were a few issues with it that needed to be worked out, and they called me immediately and discussed it with me.
